The View
Built in 1897, The View is one of Johannesburg’s oldest and most distinguished Victorian mansions, originally designed for diamond magnate Sir Thomas Cullinan. The mansion served as the Cullinan family home for nearly 40 years, standing as a symbol of the city’s early architectural and social history.
Today, The View has been preserved and repurposed to house the Transvaal Scottish Regimental Association and its museum, providing an important centre for military heritage in Parktown. Through thoughtful maintenance and restoration, the property continues to celebrate its historical significance while offering visitors and the community a unique glimpse into Johannesburg’s past.
